AMERICA THROUGH A DANE'S EYES

Danish photographer Jacob Holdt arrived in America with 40 dollars and a camera. He hitchiked over 100,000 miles across the USA photographing slum life, migrant workers as well as the very rich. Holdt is a remarkable man with an astounding and almost haunting ability to capture the kind of life most of us don't even know exists--and he is also quite a strange bird. This website is fairly extensive with personal history and photographs of the people he met along the way.
