THE HILLS ARE ALIVE--WITH THE SOUND OF WINEMAKING

Site: http://www.stratsplace.com/7ich/wine_regions.html

Julia Sevenich quit a successful restaurant career, disposed of everything she couldn't squash in her rucksack and went on a one-way ticket to travel in Europe. She studied wine, trained as a sommelier and worked in the wine business, finally settling down in the Austrian Alps. It may not be as famous as some other areas, but Julia says "Austria is a land of boutique wineries with winemakers focused on getting the most quality out of their grapes and terroir." That makes it interesting to anyone who appreciates wines made with individual character and regional grape varieties. If you know as much about Austrian wine as I did--which was zilch--then become an expert by spending a few minutes at Julia's Uncorked in the Alps page.
