Top » Food & Drink: WineTHANKS, MR MUNSON!Site: http://www.texaswinetrails.comThey've been making wine in Texas since the mid-1600s--one hundred years before California planted its first vines. Continuity was broken by prohibition and it's taken a long time for the state to recover. Now keen new wineries are coming into production, joining 38 currently making a range of still, sparkling, and fortified wines. This site has been of great use to me during my stay in Texas. It has a printable list of all wineries and their tasting rooms--which are not necessarily at the same location because some wineries are located in "dry" counties. But what I found utterly fascinating was the tale of winemaking in Texas from the earliest times to now. If you do not toast Mr T.V. Munson every time you drink wine this article will tell you why you should. And you'll also discover the Texas 3-step. This site is most definitely worth a visit.
