GOOD OBSESSION, BAD OBSESSION

Every gamer has wondered, in quiet moments between fragfests, why, exactly, spending hours hurling a ball around makes you a hero, but spending hours playing a computer game makes you an antisocial slacker who's likely to shoot up a McDonald's? Certainly the hand-eye coordination, teamplay skills, and target recognition earned in long, hard shooter matches are about the same as ball-hurling, without the sweat. And those who play wargames (myself included) will tell you of hours of mental strain involved in even one turn of a huge battle. Yet we're slackers, and antisocial.
