How To Rebed Stanchions

Site: http://www.sailingworld.com/vigorsta.htm

Have you been going crazy trying to find the leak that allows water to drip on your head while you're reading a good book in the salon? Often times it's your stanchion that's the culprit, even though it may be in a completely different location than the actual drip. If you've never rebed a stanchion and have no clue where to start, John Vigor's article will guide you through it step-by-step. As he mentions, stanchions take quite a beating on a sailboat and should be rebed occasionally, not only to stop potential leaks but to strenthen them as well. Lifelines are one of, if not *the*, most important safety items on board any sailboat, and wobbly stanchions can lead to disaster. His advice also can be applied to just about any other through-deck fitting on your boat, so if water's still dripping, start rebedding!
