Top » Education: Reference & LearningAMERICAN MEMORYSite: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/ammemThe Library of Congress continues to dazzle us with exhibitions drawn from its seemingly infinite archives. American Memory is an ever-changing showcase of pictures, documents, sound recordings, and other resources, all curated by experts who sometimes write introductory essays to create a museum-like experience. There are currently over 70 collections in the American Memory Historical Collections. Recent efforts include a collection of memories of 19th-century California and an amazing collection of turn-of-the-century film clips in downloadable formats. Another don't-miss section is The Detroit Publishing Co.'s collection of thousands of photographs of towns and cities taken between 1880 and 1920. Search for your own hometown, and be glad that at least some of your tax dollars are going to such noble efforts. Thu, 15 Jun 2000 04:19:17 -0700 Submitted by: David Timmons
