A HINDU MOTHER TERESA

Whether called by her given name of Mata Amritanandamayi ("mother of immortal bliss"), Ammachi ("Divine Mother") or simply Amma, as she's listed on her website, this South Indian native has done so much good that it can be labeled nothing less than miraculous. Her site is decidedly Hindu, offering everything from a location map for Ashram and Satsung groups throughout the world, excerpts from Amma's books and teachings, and even voluntary Indian devotional music, but her dedication to humanity crosses all religious borders. She takes no money for herself, instead using the donations given to fund orphanages, hospitals and schools in her native India, as well as two spiritual centers here in the U.S, all detailed on the site. Currently Ammachi is touring the United States, the dates of her tours listed. For those who follow a Christian religion, or even those who claim no religion, a visit to this site and a few moments spent reading of the impact this one woman has had is inspiring and thought provoking. One person sometimes can change the world.
