CROSSING THE THRESHOLD OF LIBERATION

If you've ever speculated on the similarities between Buddhism and Catholicism, this is the site for you. While superficial similarities such as the existence of purgatory, celibacy, and even the trinity, may lead one to believe that the religions are highly similar, they have significant differences as well. At this site, Dr. Yutang Lin presents his response to Pope John Paul II's book, "Crossing the Threshold of Hope." In this book, the Pope makes a number of comments about Buddhism, both to compare and contrast it to Christianity. Taking issue with some of the Pope's comments about Buddhist ideas, Dr. Lin gives his own ideas on how one should understand religions and presents a different comparison of Buddhism and Christianity.
