Learn to Tat

Tatting is a form of lace making that has largely faded out of use. Tatting was often used for edgings, applied to sleeves, collars and hems. This article is a great introduction of how to do it. All you really need is a tatting shuttle, as well as the basics (how to hold the shuttle, what thread to use, and basic stitches). Some nice examples of tatting are on this page, and you can e-mail for complete instructions on each of the pieces shown. Very good, friendly tutorial to get you started in this very old craft.
