THE OFFICIAL SITE OF THE SALVADOR DALI MUSEUM

Retirement haven St. Petersburg, Florida is the unlikely home of the Salvador Dali Museum, earth's largest collection of the surrealist-raconteur master paintings. Its official site is not as florid as the eclectic Dali, but its minimalist design and navigability doesn't skimp on biographical data, photos, and paintings. The museum itself doesn't house the famous "Persistence of Memory," but the site includes viewable samples and photos from his early, transitional, surrealist, and classical periods, with brief explanatory texts. Not all of the 95 housed works are included online, but the biographical data and critiques are highly informative. A good start for those who only know Dali as "the melting clock guy."
