Indian/Jazz Fusion

Though it is often called an American art form, jazz can really come alive with the infusion of international styles and instruments. The Guide to Classical Indian/Jazz Fusion focuses on artists and groups who combine modern jazz with the instruments and sounds of classical Indian music. The bulk of the site is an extensive list of the artists and groups who have used the classical Indian style in their jazz or who have played classical instruments such as the tabla, sitar, and oud in jazz music. Each artist description includes a discography of relevant recordings and a list of personnel on each album. Artists as well established as Dave Brubeck mingle with lesser-known groups such as the Indian ensemble Divya. The list is cross-referenced among artists and it is interesting to note the many connections between the musicians who have explored Indian music and instruments.
