Windows ME Hacked Before Hitting the Street!

Microsoft's latest consumer operating system product succumbed to wily hackers recently--before it's release date! Windows ME (for Millenium Edition) was shipped to a select group of Microsoft developers last week and isn't planned to hit the market for several months. However, PCFormat Magazine reports that hackers have already discovered a security vulnerability and associated exploit. Mircrosoft opted to remove the DOS command mode from this new version of Windows in order to shield the user from complexity. However, it appears that they actually just hid it instead of removing the functionality. This article describes an exploit that allows the user to access the DOS command mode during system bootup, without providing a password. Read on for details!
