Top » Photographyhow to build and use a cartridge pinhole cameraSite: http://www.toptown.com/nowhere/kypfer/pinhole/pinhole.htmWe may take automated cameras for granted nowadays, but some of us still remember having to use a light meter, change our lens opening and shutter speed, and use development tricks to force film to a faster speed. How would you like to use a slow speed? What about a VERY SLOW SPEED? Perhaps the very first form of photography was taken by a camera without lens or shutter; called a "pinhole" camera, it exposed film through a tiny pin-pointed hole opposite the film plane. Using a normally slow speed, and experimenting with exposure times, your photos will be almost 100% in focus--and almost grainless! While you can use 35mm film, I prefer a slightly larger negative; 126 film is, overall, less expensive than 8x10, and by visiting this web page, you'll read how you can make your own camera using a 126 film cartridge and not too much more!
