RESTORING GOLF CLUBS--READ THIS FIRST

Old hickory golf club shafts, pre-1900, are more valuable than post-1900, but don't start cleaning them just yet. Instead, stop by David C. Nicholls's page (part of a larger collection of eclectica) and check out what Mr. Nicholls has to say. It turns out that you may be able to do "something" with that old set of woods, after all. After reporting on the current points of view (as expressed in books in his bibliography), we're given an honest view of what restoration means and how we should go about it. A good resource, given the relatively high risk of damaging clubs while you're trying to "restore" them.
