cool software, privacy nightmare

InfoWorld Electric reports on the advances in tracking and profiling web users across sites, but they fail to sufficiently cover the privacy pitfalls that exist in the software that develops profiles on surfers withought their knowledge. It's not that most surfers would really even care, but this is the stuff that could create a legal nightmare. Let's hope that the media doesn't shoot themselves in the foot by overblowing the privacy thing when some politician tries to make a name.... After all, media benefits from the increased CPM that results from better targeting.
