Nasty Female Predators

Site: http://www.grayssportingjournal.com/stories/110100/lucius.html

After hearing veteran fishermen stories about the devilish Great Northern Pike (Esox Lucius), the narrator David Foster, along with Dan the guide, and soon-to-be Manitoba Master Angler Richie, set out to catch trophy pike on Knee Lake just with Sages fly rods. According to Gray's Sporting Journal article, it's a mystery how these big-eyed, sharp tooth-filled females get so large--even up to 50" long--while their small, shrimp-like, male counterparts often get preyed upon by the other sex. After a disappointing morning, Foster admits, finally catching a Great Northern Pike meant more to Richie than just catching a fish--it was more like winning a barroom brawl. In addition to describing Knee Lake and the surrounding environment, Foster provides pike-fishing tips and contact information at the end of the article.
