Are Cell phones Really safe?

The television show, 20/20, alerts cell phone users that cell phones may not be safe after all. According to this article, posted at the 20/20 site on Oct 20th, there is evidence that the telecom industry's claims to cell phone safety may be all smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that there have been no real studies that show the phones are safe. The issue is microwave radiation and how much is emitted while the phone is in use. According to George Carlo, who ran the cell phone industry's $25-million research program, there is some evidence of possible harm from cellular phones. Cell phones send electromagnetic signals, 60% of which are absorbed by the brain. 20/20 has conducted studies that demonstrate the danger and how little the testing has been done to protect the consumer.
