This is a good starting point for anyone on a very limited budget who is interested in RAID technology. By using EIDE interfaces and drives instead of the traditional SCSI, this unit is aimed squarely at the small- and home-business user. The solution comprises of a PCI board incorporating a RAID controller, and two hot-swap hard drive bays. Installing the system is as simple as installing any hard drive and PCI card. You don't need to be a storage wizard, and it happily co-exists with your existing EIDE controller and drives. The FastSwap Pro offers drive spanning (combining the capacity of both drives to give you a "large" hard drive), RAID 1 (two mirrored drives with your data replicated on both drives), or RAID 0 (data is striped across the drive to give fast data transfers). The FastSwap will happily use any make or size of drive, so with the price of EIDE hard drives plunging, getting a professional level protected system has never been easier.
