William Gibson parties like it's 1999

Frank Houston reviews "All Tomorrow's Parties," the latest offering by digital-age bard William Gibson. Gibson, who invented the term "cyberspace" and wrote the sci-fi classic "Neuromancer," has brought back the main characters from another recent novel ("Idoru") in a story that "taps the vein of our cultural angst where it runs nearest to the surface: millennialism." Houston's writing is informed and insightful, and this article makes a good read for anyone compelled by the affinities between text and hypertext. Christy Stabin
