Most people are familiar with kangaroos, wallabies and wombats, but they have never heard of a woylie or a long-nosed potoroo. Both of these little animals are on the endangered list, and you can see photographs of them and many other endangered Australian native animals at the Earth Sanctuaries Ltd. website. This company has created a number of sanctuaries dedicated to the preservation of endangered native Australian wildlife. The concept is simple--purchase as much land as you can afford, erect a predator-proof electric fence around it, relocate specimens of endangered species inside the sanctuary, and let nature take its course. The website is rich in photographs and information about the many animals which inhabit the five (soon to be six) sanctuaries. There is an animated storybook that would appeal to children, plus details on how wildlife can be saved.
