Dan Bruce, known in hiking circles as "Wingfoot," has put together a site invaluable to those who want to know about or hike the Appalachian Trail. The purpose of this site is to allow people to interact with others who are planning or have hiked the trail. You will find history, and extensive information about safety, ethics, and etiquette on the trail. You read the guestbook and you get a real feeling of communion between those who have done it and those who want to do a thru-hike. There is a mailing list and best of all, Bruce welcomes questions and offers help to those who are considering making their first thru-hike.
