What a Chestnut!

The holidays roll around and suddenly a roasted chestnut piques our fancy. I think I thought they grew on vending carts in New York... Wrong. Truth is, the majestic chestnut tree grows to be 100 feet tall and was one of the most important trees in the U.S. at the start of the century. The American Chestnut Foundation site takes you on an enlightening tour of these giants from yesteryear and the stalwart effort to save them. This is some Americana that catches you off guard and is sure to make that nut in the stuffing taste a little different.
