Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality

The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) is the oldest professional organization in the U.S. (around since 1957) that is committed to high quality sexuality research and the applications of that research. Although the website for the SSSS is designed as a portal for professionals involved in sexuality research, there is important material here for the community at large. Specifically of interest are the online informational brochures about three crucial sexual topics--compulsive sexual behavior, rape, and pornography--at http://www.ssc.wisc.edu/ssss/wssk1.htm . The material in these three brochures is authoritative and a good starting place for anyone interested in sexual addictions, compulsive sexual behaviors, pornography and the WWW, and rape prevention. Each brochure provides useful definitions as well as suggested readings. Society Members receive a variety of publications, including the "Journal of Sex Research," as well as discounts on other publications, including the "Journal of the History of Sexuality." Full Membership in the society is open to qualified professionals, and Associate and Student memberships are available to others with suitable qualifications.
