American Express now offering online brokerage

Robert Conlin's article for E-Commerce Times covers the launch of American Express's new brokerage website. The site, which "will offer equity trading at a $14.95 rate (US$) per selling transaction," basically allows American Express to keep up with the Joneses as "Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and other full-service firms" become more entrenched in cyberspace. Mixed stock reactions for different trading sites will make the American Express launch an interesting story to follow, since prices for AmEx are currently buoyant and expected to stay that way.
