This is the official site of the French Government Tourist Office. It offers a good, basic introduction to all of the many wines and spirits of France. Concise, yet complete, it will guide you throughout the major French regions with excellent maps, information on the types of grapes used, vinification processes, and so on. And while everyone has heard of Bordeaux or Cognac, few people would be able to place Calvados or even Languedoc on a map, let alone name the grapes used ther--so most people will learn something from this site.
