Top » Telecommunications10-10's Confusing? Fed's InvestigateSite: http://www.cnn.com/US/9911/05/dial.aroundsFederal Regulators are looking into the claims that ads touting dial-around 10-10 numbers for long distance are deceptive. As in any other purchase, it is important that you do your homework. 10-10 numbers send callers across an open network, forcing phone companies to bill through the local exchange. This is always more expensive to the consumer than having a number PIC'd or chosen for their line. It is generally much less expensive to sign up for a reasonably priced plan that charges by the minute (in six-second intervals) 24 hours a day/7 days a week than it is to utilize dial-around numbers with all their conditions.
