Smart Card Forum

Established in 1993, the mission of the Smart Card Forum is to promote "the widespread acceptance of multiple application Smart Card technology." This site offers a wide range of information about these "super credit cards": a Smart Card FAQ, quick factoids, news and information, announcements of Forum meetings and conferences, and “Smart Card Talk,” a monthly e-mail newsletter. According to Insight Research Corporation estimates, the worldwide Smart Card sales revenue for 1999 will reach $1.650 billion, with $1.001 billion generated from prepaid telephone cards alone.
