For the Love of the Purebred Dog

Most dog owners associate the American Kennel Club with dog registration, pedigrees and dog shows--the main emphases of this famous canine organization. In recent years, however, the AKC has realized that it must also work to promote and protect dog ownership in America, and encourage owners to train their dogs well. This section of the AKC's handsome website does just that. Here is information, for example, on the Canine Good Citizen certificate program that tests dogs on 10 basic "good manners." You will also find the Kids' Corner online newsletter with a breed quiz, Q&A with Bailey, and more. In additon, the section introduces the dog in art, and offers some gentle canine humor. The AKC has brought a friendly warmth to its presentation of man's and woman's best friend.
