Mountain Light Photography

Mountain Light Photography is home to Galen Rowell's "participatory wilderness photography," as he calls it. Rowell was a well-known mountain climber when he got the urge to photograph in the early 1970s. Since then, he's gone where no ordinary photographer can go, and with the insight of a climber. His Net gallery includes a variety of wonderful photos, from the famous rainbow over Dali Llama's capital to the split rock used on his first photo book cover. There's plenty of new work, too. The site is well-organized, and the gallery sections are arranged in pleasing displays of all vertical or all horizontal images.
