Free Cheers for MSN

Site: http://www.zdnet.com/anchordesk/story/story_4108.html

Who needs damage control when you've got ZDNet Editorial Director Jesse Berst? Recently, Berst soft-pedalled a $2 price hike in the MSN Internet access package (to $21.95 a month) while offering a glowing review of the newly relaunched MSN Search. Now, on the heels of the antitrust ruling against Microsoft, Berst has given the relaunched MSN portal site the thumbs-up. The new MSN portal (sneak preview edition) does look pretty nice (although too close to AltaVista's new look for my taste). But the new Microsoft Passport service--for keeping track of your user profile across different Microsoft online properties, something that is already very well implemented at Yahoo--is only half implemented. For now, web surfers may face confusion in deciding between their existing Hotmail password, a new Passport password, or both, or neither.
