"voluntary stupidity" no more!

Site: http://www.goodadvicepress.com/holiday.htm

The author of this piece, Mark Eisenson, calls it "Voluntary Stupidity": the money and time wasted on gifts that the giver can't afford and the recipient doesn't want. He promotes instead a sanity-restoring manifesto that includes "start[ing] some inexpensive traditions," and "mak[ing gifts] yourself." Giving of oneself (through a donation of time to charity) and presents that "help earn or save money" get a thumbs-up from Eisenson as well. Eisenson believe that his ideas will help "replace voluntary stupidity with voluntary simplicity," and in the midst of holiday madness, that's something we all could use.
