Those with youngsters on their gift lists should check out FamilyFun Magazine's 1999 Toy Award winners, a list of top play-things selected by "500 pint-sized pundits." There are toys for 3- to 4-year-olds and for 5- to 7-year-olds, grouped into categories such as dolls and fantasy play props. Each category has one winner and several finalists, and you'll find each toy's photo, manufacturer and price displayed, as well as a phone number to call to contact the company. (There's also a link to order the item directly from toysmart.com). Many of the toys are relatively inexpensive; I saw several options in the $15 range. This is a helpful resource if you want to give the little ones in your life a quality toy that they'll really enjoy.
