Top » Law & Legal IssuesThe Oyez ProjectSite: http://oyez.nwu.eduWhile no cameras are allowed in the courtroom during oral arguments, the Supreme Court has been audiotaping its sessions since 1955. The Oyez Project, which started in 1996, has archived well over 800 hours of these oral arguments in RealAudio form. While you listen, you can take a 360-degree Quicktime virtual reality tour of the Supreme Court building, including the courtroom, the library, and the Great Hall. The site also offers biographical sketches of all 106 justices, portraits, and audio links so you can hear the voice of a particular justice. More than just a novelty, the Oyez Project is a rare glimpse inside the Supreme Court's decision-making process, and an opportunity to hear the actual arguments made in some of our nation's most important legal battles.
