While we read a non-stop litany of giddy reports of an online shopping "revolution," this article from the New York Times presents a sobering reminder that this sea-change has left many Americans behind. Currently, as reporter Pam Belluck points out, "black and Hispanic families are less than half as likely as white families to have access to the Internet from home, work, or school. With come forms of commerce moving quickly to the Web, the gulf may widen between the consumptive abilities of the "have-nows" and the "have-laters." This piece serves as a potent message to e-merchants that there is still much to be done to reach all potential U.S. consumers.
