There's a new sportal in town

Tired of ESPN's take on sports news? Then surf on over to Rivals.com, a new "sportal" that seeks to play on fans' loyalties to favorite teams, rather than cover sports news generally like other sites do. Though it was launched just a few months ago, Rivals.com already has over 570 fan sites in its network. Each fan site contains in-depth information on a particular team, and also allows visitors to interact with other fans. Currently competing against the likes of ESPN and CBS Sportsline, Rivals.com attempts to provide more focused coverage for die-hard sports fans. Based on what I've seen, it will prove to be very successful and close the gap with its own "rivals."
