Blind "Ally"

"Repurposing" is a concept familiar to web content providers but as yet underutilized by TV programmers. Until "Ally," that is. Producer David E. Kelley's bright idea of repackaging old "Ally McBeal" detritus into a new half-hour series called "Ally" didn't sit too well with this critic for HoleCity. In a withering review, she lambastes the new show as the quintessence of cynicism in an age where the half-hour program is considered the golden goose among syndicators. The truncated "Ally," the writer argues, manages to alienate both detractors AND fans of the original show, bypassing all logic and dramatic continuity on its merry way to the bank. A very funny and trenchant meditation on the current state of affairs in network television.
