ODE TO A JAZZMAN

Site: http://ie.uwindsor.ca/jazz/miscpoems.html

As a part time poet, I readily appreciate the volumes that speak forth from this ten poem collection. From pauper to Ph.D., poetry knows no bounds, yet forms common bonds. Even if you do not take a liking to prose in rhyme, you owe it to yourself to read "Jazz Must Be A Woman" for the near 200 names of jazz greats listed in one sentence! Follow the link from Carl Sandburg's poem to the Jazz Poetry Anthology. Here you will learn of the natural union of jazz as art form, and jazz as transcending literature. With wide-open eyes, I invite you to listen; so that you too, like Bill Zavatsky might say, "We drank, tasting our bitter lives more sweetly / From the spring of song that never stops its kiss."
