aol's on the phone

Making phone calls over the Web was the most ebulliant fantasy of many a net-head way, way back in the early '90s. We've been getting closer to large-scake actualization of that fantasy by the second, and AOL, the company that brought out the highly popular Instant Messenger software, has just announced that it will work in partnership with Net2Phone to provide cheap online phone service to AOL's Instant Messenger users, whose ranks have been growing extremely rapidly since last November. Add to this Net2Phone's plans for servicing AOL's ICQ and CompuServe users, and you've got a humdinger of a partnership.
