The coelacanth--a 400-million-year-old fish species believed to be one of the links in the chain between the last ocean-going animals and the first organisms to walk on land--is easily one of the most fascinating biological discoveries of the twentieth century. This site is run by the Coelacanth Rescue Mission, which is devoted to preserving the few hundred coelacanths believed to be alive today in the waters around the Comoro Islands. Although updated fairly regularly, it can be a bit of a challenge to find the information you're looking for.
