If you can't make it to a real-life car museum, this site should tide you over until you can. This online version of the Blackhawk Auto Museum contains a sampling of the institutions collection. Each of four historical eras is represented by three vehicles. By clicking on a thumbnail of the car, you'll get its complete technical specifications, along with a brief historical essay. I found the early horseless carriages particularly interesting--and was shocked at their high sticker prices! This site makes a quick visit, so head over when you've got a spare minute or two.
