Yes, but is it funny?

Are Americans obsessed with humor? Not necessarily, but if that's the case, then why is it so hard make a non-comedic commercial? Bob Garfield's recent Advertising Age column, fittingly titled "Hilarious, but also wildly inappropriate," tackles the funny business by focusing on Sutter Home Winery's very funny but somewhat problematic ad campaign. An interesting article that asks the question, "Can good ads actually hurt the advertiser?"
