Nothing big happens in this world unless New York gets it first. Then the rest of us get it later. Recently, AT&T announced plans to enter the New York residential phone race. In a move that has nothing to do with Hillary Rodham Clinton, AT&T is joining MCI Worldcom and Sprint to provide local dial-tone to your house. Included in the article are some rates and descriptions of services to be provided. Not included, however, is how AT&T will market it. Traditionally, AT&T would buy customer lead lists from the likes of Bell Atlantic and telemarket you during dinner or Saturday cartoons. The article also quotes an industry analyst on Bell Atlantic's long-distance future. Are wedding bells the destiny of this previous break-up?
