Quake III Arena: Does It Hit the Mark?

Site: http://www.gamecenter.com/Reviews/Item/0,6,0-3508,00.html

It was a shock when it was announced that the focus for future Quake development was to be multiplayer-only. But here it is, the first game since the announcement, and Gamecenter tells us how the game stands up. One thing is for sure: despite the minimum requirements listed for the game, it takes a pretty powerful machine to run this baby. A Pentium II-266 with 128MB of RAM and a 16MB TNT card had Quake III running like a slug. And this is a more powerful system than the minimum specs. The game has nice graphics, but the available games fall short of Unreal Tournament's variety of MP games. All in all, a good, but not great, game.
