Howard Bond's images continue to bring rave reviews not only for their quality, but how he achieves such quality--using unsharp masks. This bare-bones site has a short article on his masking technique (which allows prints to appear sharper than a straight print), a biography, and a gallery area. Go to the Photographs section to view the six portfolios shown by this Ann Arbor, Michigan, black-and-white photographer. They include Great Sand Dunes, English Churches and Bristlecone Pines. His ability to tease virtually abstract textural images out of common objects and scenes is impressive.
