Plenty of Purcell...and Handel, and Bach...

And Mozart...and Shostakovich...Alexandre Hohmann has really outdone himself with this site, which, among other things, is a detailed tribute to several of his favorite composers. A careful look at the section on Henry Purcell yielded a wealth of information about all aspects of the English composer's life. In addition to Purcell's chronology and a lengthy catalog of his prolific output, the site also features texts (in tabular form) of three different pieces, a Purcell portrait gallery, and a wonderful page full of Purcell's personal letters, some accompanied by actual photos of the documents. An impressive website that does a great job of giving you a glimpse at the "real lives" of these exceptional composers.
