Top » Computer: Web & InternetIS JAVA DEAD?Site: http://www.codeguru.com/java/Books/Far from it.... Looking around the Web at all of the "lake effect" java applets, scrollers, and chat rooms, one might think that the serious use of Java was "dead." Nothing could be further from the truth. It seems that one of the main reasons that we don't "see" a lot of what we perceived as java is because it's not always being used in the mainstream www. Take a look at any site's help wanted computer section. It seems like every Internet programming job requires some Java. Java is probably being used more extensively today then ever before. Special applications for Intranets, Extranets, and financial institutions are a very small slice of what's currently being developed. If you are a developer and programmer, it might be time to take a second look at Java if your haven't already. There is a wealth of documentation online, including full books that are listed on codeguru.com. Read them online in their entirely, or download them in RTF format to read at your leisure.
