Butterfly Gardens

One of the most satisfying winter pursuits for the gardener is planning new projects for the spring. I'd like to encourage more butterflies in my yard, so I found this site from the Smithsonian Institution. Using their own garden as a model, the four types of habitats for butterflies (wetlands, meadow, woods, and urban) are discussed in terms of the species of butterfly and the plants found therein. Specifics about butterflies, host plants, other beneficial insects, and how to create your own butterfly garden are discussed in this well-organized and usable site.
