An interesting, and some may believe dangerous, site has appeared in the form of a site that promotes the concept of notes being left on sites by visitors to that site, yet ones that are not visible to the site owner. The notes are physically on their server but appear as a type of overlay on your site to the surfer using the facility. http://www.thirdvoice.com describes it better than I can. It certainly is open to abuse and could result in significant damage to a site's reputation. On the other hand, it is a new dynamic. Have a look and see what you think.
