Top » Home, Garden & DecoratingAdd some zest to a garden-variety windowsill!Site: http://www.wvu.edu/~agexten/hortcult/herbs/ne208hrb.htmWant to spice up your kitchen or backyard? Start an herb garden on your patio or windowsill. This website from the West Virginia University Extension Service covers every aspect of herb gardening, from the role of herbs in history to the many uses of herbs: culinary, aromatic, ornamental, and medicinal. Step-by-step instructions for indoor and outdoor growing, soil types, and sunlight and water needs make this project a breeze. Once you have a successful garden, the site gives instructions on harvesting, drying, freezing and storage. Pictures and brief descriptions of popular herbs are provided. This is a fantastic project that requires minimal effort and funds. Spice up your life (and your windowsill) today! (Note: One thing not mentioned in this site is that certain herbs should not be grown next to each other, as they tend to absorb the other's flavor and/or aroma. Check the seed packets when buying--they will tell you which plants cannot be next to each other.) Thu, 16 Dec 1999 04:18:38 -0800
