Scherenschnitte: the art of paper cutting in detail. You may recall seeing references to, or pictures of, silhouettes in black that hung in many homes in the early 1900s. This very popular art form lent itself well to maidens in their long skirts and bustles, pictures of children on a swing, dancing in the moonlight and young lovers with stars in their eyes.
